Daisy Hutt, Studio Manager

Daisy is from rural Vermont and moved to Portland in 2018 to attend Maine College of Art. Since graduating, she has been managing Tannery Brook Pottery Studio and teaching wheel throwing and hand building classes to all age groups. She hosts community outreach clay and painting classes at memory care homes and most recently created a ceramics program with the women at the Maine Correctional Center in Windham. Daisy’s goal for the pottery studio is for it to be an accessible and welcoming center for building community around clay.

Kenzie Martin, Wheel Throwing Instructor

A recent graduate of the College of the Atlantic, Kenzie specialized in pottery and marine sciences. Her passion for the ocean and its creatures is reflected in her pottery, through which she advocates for marine conservation. Kenzie has started her own art practice selling small batch ceramics.

Piper Smith, Handbuilding Instructor

Piper Smith started her career in pottery at Maine College of Art, graduating in 2020 with a BFA in ceramics. She has since been working as a full time artist and instructor. Specializing in the handbuilding process, Piper paints and carves designs in every surface available on her pots and is passionate about texture and pattern. She enjoys teaching and is excited to help point you in the right direction and make your ceramic ideas come to life.
